Workshops are an important part of the BFAC. We strive to bring you, the practicing artist, the best instruction in our custom-built facility. Wether it be with a 2-Dimensional or 3-Dimensional medium, the BFAC's Workshop rooms are equipped with optimum lighting and accomodating fixtures and equipment.

We have hand-picked several well-known and local artisans to instruct you on everything from beginning techniques, to passionate plein-air creation. We think that you will find the dates and prices to be very reasonable. At the bottom of this page, we have provided you with our picks of Travel, Food & Lodging for Breckenridge. All workshops require a non-refundable 20% deposit to hold your spot for the class. For your convenience, we accept Visa and Mastercard. Make checks payable to BFAC.

 
2010 Workshops
Photography for Artists
Tony Pilkington & Van Moore - Breckenridge

Dates: March 27 & April 3
Class Size: 5
Fee: $40 for 1 Session, $60 for Both Sessions

This workshop will be divided into two sections: Section 1 - Taking Great Photos to Create Art From - focusing on using your camera to go out and capture great landscape and still life photos to use in your paintings or drawings.  The student will be taught to use both available and studio lighting, a brief lesson on ISO/Aperture/Shutter Speed, and a brief lesson on ptinting and creating composite images to create art from.  Section 2 - Taking Great Photos of Your Art - focusing on how to capture your finished artwork in the most professional way.  The student will learn how to take photos of finished paintings, sculptures, and drawings to use in competition entries, on websites, and to make professional reproductions of their work.

How To Use Your Digital Camera

Did you get a new digital camera for Christmas this year? Or, do you have a digital camera that you want to use to its full potential? In this class, the student will learn about the differences between digital and film photography, about the different settings on most digital cameras, and about how and when to use those settings. This is also a good class to take if you are considering what camera to buy.

Digital Photography Techniques

Fee: $60

After you take all these great photos with your digital camera, whether you are new to the medium or have been shooting digital for a while, you might wonder what to do with your photos. This class will cover editing towards your best photos, understanding pixel resolution and print resolution, and will cover basic techniques in Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 for Windows. Oil & Pastel - Still-Life & Landscape Painting
Kaye Franklin - Graham, TX

Dates: June 15, 16, 17 : 9AM-4PM daily
Class Size: Min 10, Max 15
Fee: $240 3-Day Class, $25-Day to Audit, Demos for Sale

Kaye brings years of experience to this workshop which lasts 3 days. One of the benefits of this workshop each year, is that it is scheduled immediately after one of Kaye's summer trips, which are usually abroad. Demos will occur in the morning and one-on-one instruction will be in the afternoons. Still-life setups will be available or bring reference photos with you. One main focal point of the class will be light: how it falls on objects and what happens when it travels across the painting. Space, color, and form will also be addressed. The class is open to beginner to advanced students.
